This edition of Dunedin Light marks our 26th, which means we're six months old today! We've decided to thank you for being such loyal subscribers with this special report of the most beautiful waves we've witnessed on our coastline in the past six months.
Since we began we expected to have the odd week where the coastline just didn't turn it on and we thought we'd be a bit light on surfing shots for those weeks. Instead we had so much surf that we even turned our nose up at some swells that didn't quite reach our lofty standards.
Needless to say we have had a huge amount of feedback from people all over the world (and even our own city) who didn't realise that our coastline was such a wave-haven.
Of course, Dunedin Light isn't just about the waves – it's about the whole vibrant gamut of beach culture, but for this special edition we want to share with you some of our favourites like this one above of Luke Murphy dropping into a beautiful ramping wave at Blackhead Beach. This image was actually taken during our dry run of the Dunedin Light project before we launched, so in some ways it formed the very roots of what we were trying to do. Our goal has not changed: to photograph all sorts of people enjoying beautiful places along our coastline.
We hope the rest of these images give you a glimpse at some of the beauty of the South Pacific Ocean that sits right on our doorstep. You don't even have to surf to appreciate these waves, which are just a tiny selection from our very own ever-changing canvas.
