January 1st 2013: New year daze

What is it about a new year that rejuvenates mind and body? Really, it's just an uneventful moment on the continuum of time, but for us humans it has become an excuse to party with friends, bury hatchets and wash away 365 days' worth of toil. It is a resetting of the clock and a time to welcome opportunity.

In starting the year it is helpful to remember that opportunity is nothing if you don't grasp it with both hands. Opportunity does not hesitate – opportunity must be seized. Ever seen that surfer who "gets all the waves"? Chances are they're just taking every opportunity that comes their way.

At Dunedin Light we're not very good at sticking to resolutions, but if we were then these would be our top five:

1) Surf more

2) Do more surf camping trips

3) Visit more of our beautiful beaches

4) Teach the whole family to surf

5) Laugh more often

We hope 2013 brings you loads of laughter and happy moments with friends and family. Seize opportunity.

See you at the beach!
