How nice is summer in Dunedin? Even with a few less swells these hot days are pretty hard to beat especially when they coincide with public holidays. And if you're tuned into the swell map and direction there have still been a few fun, glassy sessions around town for the taking.
The warm water and air temperatures have certainly frenzied up the dawn patrols and the late arvo dusk sessions. This time of year is like a tropical paradise. The energy is contagious it seems with lots of people learning to surf and a lot more turning up each morning just for a swim in the sea. How good is that?
Speaking of loved up, we stopped by Carley Jones's floral design studio this week. Carley told us that Valentine's Day was one of her biggest days of the year so get in there quick and arrange yourself some romance. Carley's hot tip this year: pink is the new red. She assures us that a bouquet of flowers is about four surfs' worth of love. That's a lot of love. I'm thinking of buying two bouquets.
Keep an eye on a pulse up the North Coast this week that should deliver some playful conditions to make the impending swarm of cold fronts worth it. Get amongst it.
See you at the beach!
